Oat Meal & Ginger Snaps She played with a hoop.
Mother worked at the TB Sanitarium in Bayfield Wisconsin. She did laundry.
Marjory would stay at her Aunt Alice's while her mother worked. When she was sick she played with paper dolls and their clothes where cut from magazines; they were put on chuck board and she would line them up. She had a 18" doll from a teacher that lived next door; she gave her & Harry gifts; Youth Companion, Ladies Home Journal. She had tea parties with her doll. Her mother made doll clothes and a teacher made her doll a red suit jacket and skirt. The teacher taught in Superior and her sister had a summer cottage; she knew her because her dad Fred would go to train station near the fish hatchery and take her and her sister's trunks to her sisters cottage. Her sister taught in Milwaukee. Her father said grace before every meal. He liked to play cards, dance, and play the violin. He joked a lot and told stories. He entertained and played the violin at community dances. We went to the the Presbyterian Church. Saw Gladys and Wilmer with cornet and Gladys was 2 years a head in the same high school, Wilmer graduated with Harry; they were in the same grade in Bayfield. We played "Death" on the rocks while waiting for Gladys and Wilmer; they were always late they had to do chores, they would count each others stripes; their father was very strict. We road a sleigh in the winter & our school bus had curtains. Stephen Douglas was very musical, he played the organ well, he played at our house he had very good timing. He gave music lessons and had a cylinder and recorded on it. he played at Marjorie's. He sang with Homer and Buford and would record. He would not go to community dances. After PTA Wilmer & Gladys played their cornets. Philip Nickels (Page Nickels) brother took her to dance and to the prom. Page was Married to Nellie Wilcox (Marjorie's sister). Slept in bed with Bernice & Gladys. Bernice was very intelligent and was Val Victorian; she finished high school in 3 years. Gladys dated Don Mills and he became a pastor. Marjorie slept in bed with Gladys and Bernice. Rode a bike that when in nurses training that bought for $5.00 Harry fixed it up and rode it also. Ice skated on Lake Sup r
